PhillBuilt builds custom solid wood benches in our shop in Rancho Cordova, just east of Sacramento: dining benches, entry benches, restaurant wall benches, spindle-back benches and open-arm benches, mostly in white oak, walnut and cherry. Every bench is built to your length, height and style.
Trusted by Michelin-starred restaurants: we built white oak open-arm benches for The Kitchen, starred in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide California.

Bench projects

Sizing a bench
- Seat height: about 17 to 19 inches for dining, matching standard chairs
- Seat depth: about 14 to 18 inches for backless benches, deeper for benches with backs
- Length: about 24 inches per person; a bench for a 72-inch table is often 60 to 66 inches long so it tucks between the legs
