Curved Reception Desks
Curves are hard to build well, and that is exactly why they stand out. PhillBuilt fabricates custom curved and radius reception desks in solid wood, with smooth arcs, consistent reveals and fronts that follow the curve without flat spots.

Our curved desk work at SFMOMA
We fabricated the curved radius front check-in desk for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The project and design were by John Pemberton of Carlysle Manufacturing Company, who brought our shop on to build it. The desk combines a long radius arc with a raised transaction counter, a slatted solid wood front and a lower work surface for staff, and it sits on casters so it can move with the lobby.

How we build curves
- Radius templates and curved carcasses built in our shop
- Slatted and solid wood fronts that follow the arc cleanly
- Segmented construction so large desks can travel and fit through doors
- Two-height counters, with a standing transaction ledge and a lower, accessible-height desk
- Mobile bases on casters when the space needs flexibility

FAQ
How big can a curved desk be?
Large curved desks are built in sections that join on site, which lets us deliver long arcs through standard doors and elevators.
Can a curved desk be mobile?
Yes. The SFMOMA desk rides on casters so it can be repositioned.
Do you work from architects' drawings?
Yes. Much of our commercial work is fabrication to a designer's drawings.
